Old DIY Studio

When I started doing photography I was a little intimidated with flashes. I already had one set of work light so what I did was I bought a smaller set so compliment the bigger set. To soften the light, I made these diffusers with PVC pipes and thin white material.

Here's the shot of the Praktica. This was taken with my first DSLR! A Sony A200 with the 18-70mm kit lens. I have plans to do another picture with that camera as my subject.

I used the same setup to take this picture. This is probably my favorite picture of my son. I photographed this with my Canon 50D + 50mm 1.4 lens.

For this kind of shot you'll need at least a 50mm lens because the Christmas tree isn't wide and 50mm or more will compress the background to fill the frame.

I later sold these lights except for one. Working with them was tricky because of the lack of power and also they generated a lot of heat. But I did learn with them and as you can see I produced some nice pictures.
