I have this fake bonsai and so I thought I could create something neat. It was late morning and nice and sunny. Yes, the light is a bit harsh but I find that it creates nice dramatic shadows.
Here's the setup:
I choose a concrete slab because my deck is too brown. I also like the look of this, gives it a little bit of contrast in the tones. So the sun is coming in at a 45-degree angle from the right and my little helper is holding a white diffuser to fill in the shadows.
This was shot with my Fujifilm X-T20 + Rokinon 50mm 1.2. This is out of camera raw with Lightroom presets (Adobe Color):
I used a 4x5 crop here to eliminate some dead space. I decreased the highlights a lot from the harsh sun. I changed the hues to give it a warmer feeling.
