Washing Hands

People have been washing their hands a lot more lately to be safe. Even in more difficult times, you can find something nice in something mundane like washing your hands. Often, water + light = something interesting.

So here's my setup:

I learned from the lightswitch I could create cool shadows with the laundry basket and this shot needed something extra to make it stand out. I placed a flash pointing in a 45 degree with a laundry basket on top. Again, the angle and the distance of the basket made a big difference.

I replaced the tripod fairly close to the sink and prefocused on the water. With a 10 second timer, I had time to place some soap in my hands and create a lot of bubbles.

This shot was taken with my Fujifilm X-T3 + Fujinon 27mm F/2.8. This is out of camera raw with Lightroom presets (Adobe Monochrome):

I did a lot of localization adjustments in this shot beside the normal increase in contrast, clarity, and highlights. Only after, of course, I noticed I should've turned the lights in the bathroom off. You can see them reflecting on the faucet.

Just like the lightswitch, I like taking something ordinary and trying to make it special. This shot is also part of a project I'm trying composed of life stills. So everyday things but from an interesting perspective. You can check it out on the projects page.
