Foggy Lake (Irish Town)

I woke up one autumn morning and I was astounded by the fog but the sun was already up and it looked a bit thin already but I decided to go anyway. Even driving there I could see it disappearing and I remember my mind telling me to just turn around. But, since it wasn't far away and I had some hope the fog would be there because of the water. Boy was I right.

There was so much fog it was incredible. I know many photographers like to chase fog and even though I felt this was cool, it was a bit tricky since there was so much of it. But one thing for sure is it was beautiful and peaceful.

These shots were all taken with my Fujifilm X-T3 + Fujinon XF55-200mm. I won't go through the edits for these shots.

This is an example of too much fog. It almost looks like it was over added in post-production. I tried to thin it out a bit.

95mm 1/15sec F/11 ISO 160

I love the colors I could bring out with this one. This was initially my favorite but I'm not sure about the composition anymore. Maybe a little less water and a bit more sky?

78mm 1/50sec F/11 ISO 160

The sun peaked through the clouds at one point and it lit this tree up. I remember franticly composing before the sun hides again. An isolated red tree with warm light and fog. So happy I had my telephoto lens. This is a 5x7 crop.

200mm 1/30sec F/11 ISO 160

This shot was taken when I almost got there. As you can see, there's a lot of fog but it makes a cool black and white picture. There's a blue color grading on the picture, that's why they're not the same color.

148mm 1/30sec F/11 ISO 160

I'm sure you're wondering why I didn't shoot with a wide-angle and only the telephoto lens. With my 27mm, I was getting too much sky and water. It made everything insignificant. I really like picking composition with my telephoto. I could've done a panorama though and I might try that the next time.

When I was driving back home, there was more fog around my house than when I left. It was crazy and a little odd since now the sun was high. I think I was lucky that day.
