Self Portrait Guitar

In the evening, the sun shines in my living room. Near winter, the sun is low and a bit softer so I thought it would be perfect to try a self-portrait with the guitar. It's something I had on my mind for a while now. Here's the setup:

In the setup picture, you don't see any sun because the clouds moved over. But when I took the shot, there were just a little bit of clouds so it made the light nice and not too harsh.

My dad helped me by setting the focus, triggering the timer, and using the reflector to brighten my guitar and right side.

This shot was with my Fujifilm X-T3 + Fujinon 27mm F/2.8. This is out of camera raw with Lightroom presets (Adobe Monochrome):

There's a lot of local adjustments for dodging and burning to increase contrast at the right places. There's a slight S bend on the tone curves with the blacks lifted just a little bit (4). I like lifted blacks but it's really easy to go overboard. I've done it before. The 27mm isn't the best for controlling lens flare, especially since there's no lens hood. But in this case, I find it adds to the picture.

I'm really happy how this turned out. It's something I planned out with Suncalc.org. I find the whole process of coming up with an idea, planning the light, trying the shots, and editing so rewarding. It's not just a 1-day thing, it's something that I really take my time with.
