Backyard Ferns 2

Here's my first take of the same batch of ferns. I noticed later in the year the same batch having different sunlight and some have turned browner. You can see from the setup shot the light being blocked by my neighbor's house and the tree.

The longer I waited the more light went to the background which I didn't want. I hoped for more light on the brown fern and less in front of it but that's out of my control.

These were shot with my Fujifilm X-T3 + Rokinon 50mm 1.2. This is out of camera raw with Lightroom presets (Adobe Color):

In these harsh light shots, you need to drop the highlights quite a bit. There are also some local adjustments to isolate the subject by darkening around and increase clarity. There's a lot of play in the HSL as you can see in the color difference. I wanted the greens a bit more greener but also desaturated them. It gives a colder look whiteout changing the white balance.

Finding isolated subjects are the best. Big scenes are awesome but these kinds of pictures can give hope to other photographers to go find shots where normally others would miss.
